“A society without a mobility divide, where people, goods and services can move freely and independently, safely, comfortably and in an environmentally, people- and city- friendly way”. This is the vision of Prof ISHIDA Haruo. He leads the Development of a Smart Mobility Platform as one of 14 themes of the cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation promotion Program (SIP) in Japan. After Prof Bart van Arem presented the XCARCITY program during the Mobility Innovation Week in Japan in 2023, this time Prof ISHIDA Haruo presented the Japanese program during a visit to TU Delft and Connekt.
The Smart Mobility Platform will focus on Safe and comfortable small roads for everyone, Safe and secure mobility, Redesigning mobility services and Supporting infrastructure and data base. In particular the use of digital sandboxes are closely related at the digital twin approaches in XCARCITY that were presented by Dr Maaike Snelder and Dr Yan Feng. Prof Bart van Arem was invited to join the International Advisory Board led by Manabu Umeda from The University of Tokyo. Further options for collaboration were discussed among participants including Takahiro Ishigami and Junpei Kimata from The Institute of Behavioral Sciences, Dr Shadi Sharif Azedeh and Dr Simeon Calvert from TU Delft and Tom Alkim from MAP TM.
We are looking forward to a continuing collaboration and exchange during the Mobility Innovation Week, that will take place 11-14 November 2024 in the surrounding area of Nagoya. https://mobilityinnovationalliance.org/en/info240330
