TNO developed a methodology to include parking in macroscopic traffic assignment. This methodology, using parking links and parking capacities, allows cities in the XCARCITY programme to explore policy measures and designs that offer different parking options. The impact of these measures on the number of cars parked per area can be determined, and impacts of parking on other travel choices such as mode choice. The model developments have been incorporated in the digital twinning platform of TNO (Urban Strategy).
