On 21 January, we organized an XCARCITY CAV workshop at Connekt in Delft, convening public authorities, knowledge institutes and industry partners for an interactive session on connected and automated mobility within XCARCITY. The workshop combined short presentations with structured discussion to connect technical developments to project goals. The discussion was grounded in the XCARCITY case study Rotterdam M4H (Merwe-Vierhavens), reflecting practical deployment constraints. Participants emphasised that CAV-related measures should be evaluated against shared, city-level objectives such as safety, network performance and quality of life. A key point was the importance of safe operation in mixed traffic, particularly robust interaction with cyclists and other vulnerable road users. Overall, the workshop highlighted the need for coordinated pilots and continued collaboration to translate CAV potential into measurable societal value. The key takeaways, along with a summary of the presentations and discussions, are compiled in the workshop report (available on the website).
